Fall in Texas

What is it about this season, as the year winds down, that makes me feel so renewed? I think that perhaps being in education so long, my seasons have reversed. The spring feels like the end of something and autumn - fresh beginnings! But as the leaves change color

and a certain coffee shop begins selling its infamous Pumpkin Spice Lattes, I know autumn has arrived. Each year, I wait until the month of October to make my homemade mini pumpkin loaves with tart and tasty cream cheese frosting. The cloves, nutmeg, cinnamon, and ginger combine into this fabulous aroma that lets the whole house know - fall is here. This tasty treat becomes our breakfast, midday snack, and even dessert. What recipes in your house let you know this beautiful season is in full swing? While this time of year fills me with inspiration and excitement as I look forward to the holidays and time with loved ones, fall is often a season for reflection. Mini Pumpkin Loaves with Cream Cheese Frosting

As the year begins to close, let us all be still for a moment. Let us reflect on our many blessings. We are coming into a holiday that many set aside to consider all that they are thankful for. Let's be grateful ahead of that holiday - let's be grateful today. Right now. Together. Whether you are grateful for words that inspire, the sound of laughter, or just the sweet aroma of cloves and cinnamon, we are all truly blessed. It is so easy to get lost in all we do not have, all we might wish for, but so difficult sometimes to recall that if we have a good book or a good friend, that is enough - you are enough. Hoping for a peaceful, warm, and joyous fall for you and yours.

-Jennifer
